Casanuts : the meeting point of skill and experience

Casanuts*, a family company, has been launched on late 2005 by Anne-Charlotte BOUVET, Christian DELECOURT and Marie-Christine IMBERT.

Anne Charlotte BOUVET (30 years old), ESCP graduate (2000), had previously worked in the Web Agency Nurun. She is now responsible in production and referencing for www.casanuts.com.
She uses to travel in B&B and renting.

Christian DELECOURT(59 years old), previously a CEO of a multimedia publishing company, is in charge of commercial and management. He is responsible of finding owners in the Casanuts network.

Marie-Christine IMBERT(57 years old), was previously a publisher in traditional as well as multimedia publishing companies. She is responsible of editorial content and communication.

Both of them use to rent their houses and are aware about the B&B, apartment or owners’ demands.

*Casanuts is a private funds company, based in Paris.

"Why such an idea?"
After a one year trip in South America, I was convinced that travel accommodation would change on the next coming years. People want to change when travelling, they want to feel free when organizing their travels, they need something different than usual hotels. Renting, home exchange or B&B would increase….  I wanted to create a network of owners and renters interested in these opportunities new for them. At the end of my four years experience in the Web Agency NURUN, I felt I was right in time.  I had the right tools with my knowledge of the media and my traveller experience. 

"You are not the first one… Do you fear that they are many people on this market?"
That’s true, competition is hard! … But among all the existing sites many of them are not really professional and only a few of them are really our competitors. It’s clear that many will disappear due to a lack of money and of clear positioning. We have to build our success on showing our difference: a large offer of quality clearly received by owners and renters. 

"And how will you convince owners, your main customers?"
Through many telemarketing tools we have a better understanding of owners’ demands. Often members of several sites, they want to spread their usual customer period, just holidays, they want to have more foreigners, they ask for more services. It’s exactly what we try to do when working with festivals or professional show….

"Which is the main feature of Casanuts?"
A quality commitment, as you can read in the Casanuts chart of trust together with the day to day work of our editorial team. It reads and deeply analyses all the ads to check coherence of information, rewrite some texts if necessary and award one, two or three « houses », as stars, according to general quality, size and volume of the rooms, level of equipment, quality of arrangement and decoration. Ads without a minimum of three photos (inside, outside and the pool if any) are not published.We also select ads around topics related to events or renters’ demands… On each topic, it is possible to display and to sort ads on a map and to receive the ads by feed RSS. "Looking for a B&B or a renting on the web is often difficult: lack of relevance, incomplete information … What do you propose to improve the renter’s research?"
Search engine, developed with Rich Media, has been conceived to optimise results relevance: sort on more than 70 criteria, instant update with every new change…. We did an easy and friendly interface with a constant awareness of efficiency, comfort and easiness. We just have integrated Google Maps to the search engine. Internet user can easily search by map, and easily go to lists. It is fully possible to localize a house or a B&B on the map, to zoom and to obtain a satellite view quite useful to check environment (access, forests, and distance up to the sea…). Besides, ads information are quite complete: inside and outside description, list of equipments, suggested services, outdoor facilities…especially if the ad is «personalized», it means personally completed by the owner.

"What about the famous web 2.0… How Casanuts does use it?"
Our main idea is to place Casanuts members at the centre of the system. The renter gets the relevance of his research results and the opportunity to receive the latest ads through email alert and feed RSS. The owner gets demands of rent through email and can manage himself his ads and demands into his member area. Besides, Casanuts, as a network of owners and renters, facilitate relationships between members: member’s profile includes speaking languages, usual sports, hobbies… and after each rental, owner and renter are invited to evaluate each other.

"What about your objectives on the next coming months..."
Our main goal is now to increase traffic. Even if we try to improve the site, we are looking for showing our work and results to renters and owners. That’s the reason why, in addition to referencing and links….we hope that you, journalists, will help us to speak about us…
